On July 29-30th, 2017 Urban Assault Paintball in Pittsburgh, PA hosted the inaugural Iron City Classic 10-man tournament. The former host facility of the NPPL from the mid 1990’s to the early 2000’s, Urban Assault allowed teams to get the full “classic“ experience by pitting teams against each other in the woods, on the Hyperball field and on the notorious mounds field. The event was organized by Tim Montressor of Tampa Bay Damage and was created with the goal of incorporating as many players from various age groups into a highly competitive tournament. The 10-man format was the dominant game in tournament paintball from the late 80’s until the early 2000’s. Recently, it has made a comeback with numerous events occurring around the USA and an ever-growing division in the NXL. Montressor has confirmed that the Iron City Classic will be an annual event and 2018’s tournament has already garnered quite a bit of interest. Special thanks to Nick Cucuzza for this awesome video!
