While everything seems to be going quite well with the rapid progress of the Starship rockets, the first spacewalk mission of SpaceX on the Crew Dragon spacecraft has suffered a new delay. What exactly went wrong? Why was it delayed? How did Elon Musk react to this? Let’s find out in today's episode of Alpha Tech! Polaris Program's Polaris Dawn mission is a first-of-its-kind effort to rapidly advance human spaceflight capabilities. It is a special mission that has great significance for the frontiers of private spaceflight in general and for Crew Dragon in particular. This will be the flight Elon Musk praised: “The @SpaceX Dragon spaceship will take astronauts the furthest they’ve been from Earth in over half a century.“ However, the timeline of the mission hasn't been smooth. The initial schedule of the Polaris Program, a series of private astronaut missions backed by billionaire Jared Isaacman, announced that its Polaris Dawn mission was now scheduled for no earlier than the summer of 2024. So, we will have to wait a few more months to witness the first private spacewalk. “The additional time continues to provide necessary developmental time to ensure both the completion of these mission goals and a safe launch and return of Dragon and the crew,” it posted on social media.
