3D Scanning the Orion Spacecraft

In March 2016, SME worked with Lockheed Martin, FARO Technologies, Direct Dimensions, Inc., Met-L-Flo, Inc., Florida Institute of Technology and CINCINNATI INCORPORATED to take the first-ever 3D scan of the Orion spacecraft model, which is on display at the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex. The 3D technology companies also partnered on first-ever 3D scan of the actual Orion pressure vessel, which will take humans farther into space than they’ve ever gone before.
