In June of 1940, popular radio disk jockey Martin Block assembled perhaps the greatest band ever for a WNEW radio broadcast. The All-Star band included: Count Basie -piano John Kirby- bass Gene Krupa- drums Harry James Roy Eldridge and Bunny Berigan- trumpets Tommy Dorsey Jack Jenney- trombones Coleman Hawkins- tenor sax Harry James takes the first solo, sounding a little like Buck Clayton.
