The Royal Canal tour leads around the island of Djurgarden through the green Stockholm. It starts at the Strömkajen on the peninsula Blasieholmen, east of Kungsträdgarden. Here was once the island Käpplingen. But it got connected to Norrmalm in the 17th century and became the peninsula Blasieholmen. We pass the National Museum and the museum quay. Some of the ships here were restored true to the original and are partly still driven by steam-driven engines. Past the Royal Dramatic Theater, we reach the most fashionable residential area of Stockholm, the district of Östermalm. The boulevard Strandvägen with its chic buildings is the first address for famous personalities such as Björn Borg, or Per Gessle, the singer of Roxette. On the right is the island of Djurgarden. Djurgarden is almost 4 km long and 1 km wide. Djurgarden is the Swedish word for a game park. Until 1809, it was the royal hunting ground. Today, it belongs to the only National City Park in Sweden found
