Billy Joel's 52nd Street may be just one of his most overlooked albums. Despite having the hit singles Big Shot and My Life, well-loved deeper cuts like Zanzibar and Stiletto, and winning Billy Joel's only Grammy award for Album of the Year, 52nd Street tends to be overlooked for the true masterpiece it really is. Many people consider this to be the final in the classic Billy Joel Trilogy of “Turnstiles,“ “The Stranger,“ and “52nd Street“ with a much more diverse and mature craftsmanship in the integration of Gospel, Latin, and Jazz influences. One final thing to note: I did not cut off the performance of 52nd Street, Billy ended that short excerpt himself saying 'wait a minute, we don't do that song.'
