The national members council of the Workers Party met this weekend in Birmingham. The first session began on Saturday evening after the conclusion of a demonstration in support of Gaza at which the leaders of Stop the War conspired to keep our leaders off the platform, and a lacklustre attempt was made to gauge support for a new “left“ Party. Jeremy Corbyn did not respond directly to the pressure of the MC. Our NMC discussed our Electoral challenge in 2024, the prospect of a Rochdale by-election and confirmed that the party would contest Ladywood, Hall Green and Hodge Hill constituencies in the next General Election.
