This project started as a pure curiosity on how Defense Distributed managed to 3D print springs. To me, that is the most amazing achievement here - thick enough plastic will sustain a round being fired. If it's not thick enough, make it thicker... But the springs? Reliably storing enough energy to swing the hammer at high enough velocity to detonate a primer? Fantastic! The applications for that achievement go well beyond the scope of this project.
