Russia repeatedly said the goal of the grain deal was to head off a food crisis in the poorest countries while stressing it’s ready to supply nations that are most in need for free. Meanwhile, the US has announced another $250 million of aid to Ukraine in order to compensate Kiev for the loss of its exports. But economist and political commentator, Eike Hamer, believes Washington itself benefits from the disruption to the deal.
