Titan II Silo Walk Through - 570-6

This is a brief walk through of a Titan II missile base that has been excavated near Tucson, Arizona. All Titan II missile bases were decommissioned and were “destroyed“ to varying degrees. Most sites in Arizona had the long cableway removed which led from the blast lock to the launch silo. The launch silo was blown up 20 feet below grade and the rubble was pushed into the inner ring where the missile sat. A 3 foot concrete cap was them poured at that 20 foot mark. The launch control center, blast lock and access portal were all kept intact. The access portal was generally filled with rubble and fill dirt.
