Spaceflight Now joins forces with Astronomy Now to provide live coverage of the launch of the European Space Agency's Euclid telescope on a mission to shed light on the dark universe. Liftoff from pad 40 at Cape Canaveral on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket is scheduled for 11:12 a.m. EST (1512 UTC / 4:12 p.m. BST) on Saturday, July 1. Our live coverage will be hosted by Dr Stuart Clark, Professor Andrew Pontzen, a cosmologist at University College London, will speak about the science of the Euclid mission and Steven Young will provide launch commentary from Spaceflight Now's Kennedy Space Center office. The Euclid mission will create the largest, most accurate 3D map of the universe ever produced covering 10 billion years of cosmic time. Euclid will explore how the Universe has expanded and how large-scale structure is distributed across space and time, revealing more about the role of gravity and the nature of dark energy and dark matter.
