🇮🇱Israel has held its first protest against military action in Gaza. The rally, which attracted hundreds of people, took place on the Tel Aviv seafront. The action was agreed with the authorities and organised by left-wing forces led by the HADASH party, which mainly represents the interests of Israeli Arabs (about 21% of the country’s population). The demonstrators held placards with slogans in Hebrew, Arabic and English such as “Stop the war“, “Truce now“ and “There are no winners in war“. Across the street from this demonstration, the patriotic forces, which support the continuation of the military operation to a victorious end, organised their own rally. Their gathering was smaller but much louder, with music blaring from powerful loudspeakers, drowning out the speeches of the neighbouring anti-war rally.
