This book is basically a sampler of a number of variations on the basic V-fold mechanism. If you want to try your hand at recreating some of these, check out The Elements of Pop-Up and The Complexities of Pop-Up by David Carter and James Diaz: I also recommend The Pop-Up Channel by Duncan Birmingham which has some really excellent videos on the topic: For bookbinding a traditional codex style pop-up book, Michael McGinnis has made this incredibly thorough how-to video: It's probably the definitive online resource on the topic.* However, he leaves out a crucial detail on how to calculate the width of the hinge, so I've included the formula below. width of hinge = (3x the thickness of the cover boards) (1/4 the width of the spine) *Caveat that I know Michael and may be biased.
