A nostalgia-drenched six bar blues jam, ‘Pink Ice Cream’ sees The Surfing Magazines pair an irresistible classic rock vibe with wistful lyrics relating to their childhood. The similarly rose-tinted official video further accentuates these themes. It’s taken from their forthcoming ’Badgers of Wymeswold’ album, out on 30th July: “The idea of the video was loosely inspired by Close Encounters of the Third Kind,” director Luke Woolley explains. “The song is a great summer upbeat song and I wanted to create a bright, upbeat short story of a man obsessed with a UFO sighting to accompany the song. Speaking on the single, the band comment “When Kerouac talks about ‘’the timeless gaiety of people not involved in great cultural and civilisation issues’’, he is talking about people who make music that sounds like this. In other words, this is ‘’world music’’ without the corporate agenda.”
