Dance Assistants: Ed Gasper. Paul Glover. Sonja Haney. John Sharpe. What did you think of the ”Rich Man’s Frug” number? Have you seen “Sweet Charity on Broadway/Theatre or the film? What distinguishes a dancer and choreographer from one another? Sometimes it can be their style, technique, interpretation, personality, or it can even be your personal preference and connection to a particular style of dance/choreographer. Mr. Fosse knew how to dance, choreograph and most importantly perform. That he had encompassed over his years of training and performing as a dancer/choreographer, from Vaudeville, Broadway and Film. Mr. Fosse extracted the inner of a dancers’ soul to build his dance numbers into something that is still remembered to this day, for his love, respect and passion to the Art of what we call Fosse. As in “Rich Man's Frug“ Mr. Fosse’s choreography is unique, specific and it’s not just dancing, he has the dancers’ act the part of their characters in what he wants to convey within the performance. Sweet Charity Choreography Concept: Miss. Verdon talks about the time of Mr. Fosse and herself visiting the recently opened New York Discotheque (Fifty Fourth Street) “Arthur.” And it was from being at Arthur’s Disco, the idea for “Rich Man's Frug“ developed. “We went there and we saw all these people. Mrs. Kennedy…Sybil Burton…this funky music was playing…and it was just so elegant. But they really thought they were swingin’ it around like the kids did.
