The technique shown does not require making provisional joins when you switch from one colour of the yarn to another one. Knitting intarsia in rounds can be used for knitting hats, mittens or other projects that you knit seamlessly (in rounds) and would like to add a pattern with other than your main colour yarn. You can use a set of straight double-pointed needles, two pairs of circular needles or one pair of interchangeable circular needles with two cords, as I did, and knit intarsia in rounds.
