Russia - US Troops Join Peacekeeper Ceremony

American troops were officially welcomed to Russian soil on Thursday (1/9) at the official ceremonial opening of the joint “Peacekeeper 94“ military exercises at Totskoye, in the Volga region. The Americans belong to the US Third Infantry Division based in Heidelberg, Germany. A total of 250 US soldiers and 250 Russian soldiers are participating in the exercise. Activists of the pro-Communist workers movement “Labour Moscow“ are expected to demonstrate on Friday and to block access to the site.
