Irish playwright George Bernard Shaw (1856-1950) / Spoken English & Broken English / Four sides recorded for the Linguaphone Institute in 1927 -- Earlier in his career Shaw was also music and arts critic for London newspapers writing under the pseudonym “Corno di Bassetto“. Not without interest, in this talk on the English language, Shaw mentions the recordings, playback speeds of singers and speakers who had passed into history, including Adelina Patti, Sarah Bernhardt, Charles Santley, Enrico Caruso, Francesco Tamagno. Incidentally, these four sides were played back just a tad slower than 78 rpm. ******************************
