The iconic “Starman” was the lead single (recorded and release in 1972) on the late, great, David Bowie’s album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars – though it was actually a late addition to the album. The idea was a message of hope coming to Earth’s youth from an alien. We dunno where a message of hope is coming from these days, and as the lyrics suggest, there certainly hasn’t really been one fully mapped out yet by the Labour Party who are currently leading in the UK polls in a General Election year. In fact, we don’t even know when the General Election is going to be. But we’re hoping both parties don’t wallow in a cesspit of negative messaging and actually put forward a vision for the future that is more than platitudes or self-evident clichés.
