Computer simulation of an iron meteor 40 m (130 ft) wide impacting the Earth at 12 km/s (27,000 mph). The size and speed is similar to the Meteor Crater impact in Arizona. The simulation shows crater formation and ground shock the first second after impact. Notice that the meteor is totally deformed in the first fraction of a second and spreads along the bottom of the crater during impact. Find more information at .
