How to make a 3D printed 3D puzzle, using wood filament, filled with epoxy resin. The 3D puzzle DIY is the easy way to advanced segmented woodturning. The basic approach is to 3D print wedges for segmented woodturning, but add tabs and blanks to each puzzle piece as appropriate to the jigsaw pattern. Then let the 3D printer do the next part. It's not necessary to add epoxy resin to the infill or turn it on the lathe, but the see through effect is stunning. This is my first craft project using a 3D printer, a Creality Ender 3 v2, in order to get the accuracy of the puzzle pieces. The wood PLA filament was difficult to figure out how to get it to stick to the base plate until I came across Magigoo. Once the puzzle was generated, each piece was filled with epoxy resin, then assembled and woodturned on a lathe. Do the pieces look like wood? Did I sell out by using a 3D printer in a woodworking project? Do you think Chris Ramsay could solve this? Please watch and comment and let me know what you think of the project.
