F major Courante by Sylvius Leopold Weiss from the Krzeszow (Grussau) manuscript. It has a concordant version in the London (Prague) manuscript dated 1717, however the London version uses 11 courses only. The Partita from which the Courante comes, inscribed „Parthia in F del sig Weiss” and written at a later date, uses the full scale of the 13 course lute in 4 movements: Prelude, Allemande, Bourree and Chaconne . For the sake of consistency I have arranged the remaining movements for 13 courses. The Krzeszow Prelude has no concordant version. Weiss also altered the Menuet and concluded with a nice Chaconne, whereas in the London manuscript the Partita closes with a Gigue. CD available from
