PLEASE READ ME I regret not mentioning about the history and origins of pine needle weaving in this video. This video was mostly intended to show how to make a pine needle basket is made but it should have nevertheless gave credit to where it was due. Pine needle basket weaving is an incredibly old tradition linked mainly to native American tribes, although pine needle baskets have also been known to be made in places such as Central American, India and some African areas. Those resources are incredibly useful for those who are interested in knowing more about the history and origins of pine needle weaving: - (LOTS of incredible pictures here) - MATERIALS: PINE NEEDLES: If you can't find long pine needles where you live, lots of ETSY sellers sell them: or for example. they are also available here: For this basket I used 100g of dried pine needles. THREAD: - Macrame Waxed Thread: -US: -EU: - Polyester Thread and Artificial Sinew: - Raffia Thread: GAUGE: I used a small piece of paper straw (about 3cm). You can also use a piece of tubing like they do here: NEEDLES: any wide eyed strong needle will do (look for tapestry/embroidery needles). PLIERS: any kind of round or flat nose pliers.
