The Midnight Follies - And Some Of The Steps We Saw (1922)

“From the cute little ones of Cicely Courtneidge...“ L/S of Cicely doing a dainty little dance with an umbrella. Diners watch from tables around the dance floor. We then see an unidentified man doing a funny walk up some steps which lead off the dance floor. He does a manic dance at the top of the steps then pretends he is about to fall over backwards. He does a bandy legged dance coming down the steps. Silly stuff. M/S of an unidentified couple performing an exhibition dance. Two women run across the dance floor and up the stairs. One is crouched low to the ground as they run along which is quite funny - but who are they? (Norah Blaney and Gwen Farrar?) M/S of dancers looking very jolly in jaunty hats working their way around the dance floor. There are streamers flying everywhere - New Year's Eve perhaps? High angle shot of people seated at tables getting covered with party streamers. M/S of the dancing. Note: flash-frame intertitles. This was possibly shot at the Metropole Hotel. FI
