Here we have a copy of `The Savage Resurrection` released in the US on the red Mercury label (SR-61156) in 1968, the band only released one album before breaking up. Needless to say this has added to it`s rarity and a copy still in its shrinkwrap sold in 2016 for £368 There is also a mono copy available (MG-21156) and a UK issue on the Black/Silver Mercury label (134 068 MCY) which in decent condition would probably sell for around £200. Definitely worth looking out for. Why not subscribe as I post rarities regularly! Side 1 1. Thing In `E` 0:00 2. Every Little Song 3:02 3. Talking To You 4:54 4. Tahitian Melody 7:40 5. Expectations 32:03 The Savage Resurrection were Randy Hammon (lead guitar, vocals) (whose cousin Paul Whaley was in Blue Cheer), John Palmer (lead guitar, vocals), Bill Harper (lead vocals, harp, percussions), Jeff Myer (drums), Steve Lage (bass guitar, vocals). Formed in 1967 in the East Bay town of Richmond, CA. (near Berkeley) by members of Garage Rock groups Button Willow, Whatever's Right, The Plague, The Blue Boys and others. The band were signed to Mercury Records by A&R man Abe 'Voco' Kesh (most famous for his work with fellow Bay Area-based acts `Blue Cheer` and `Harvey Mandel`) who also produced their lone album over the course of three days, capturing a group that sounded Rawer and Punkier than most Psychedelic bands. Some numbers on the resulting LP were basic Heavy Blues-Rockers; others had more unexpected chord shifts and song structures to anchor their intense lead guitar riffing. Lead singer Bill Harper and bassist Steve Lage left shortly after the album came out. With replacements the band only managed to do a few dates in the Midwest before breaking up later in 1968.
