What is a SIESTA (Spanish Culture)

While there are many things I admire about Spanish culture, nothing stands out more than the SIESTA CULTURE (or short power naps after lunch). Have you ever heard of a siesta before? All of the stereotypes are true (especially in the summer months) -- people really do take siestas here and it's magnificent! Why can't we have a siesta culture in the U.S. as well?
