'서울의 봄' 개봉 10일 만에 300만 돌파 돌아온 '스위트 홈' 시즌 2 It is getting more and more freezing cold here in South Korea. And on such days, it might be better to go and watch a movie in the comfort of a warm theater or be cozy in bed watching something on Netflix or other streaming services. Well, just in time for the really cold winter weather, there are many new releases for people to watch. The historical film “: The Day“ has already surpassed three million tickets sold in just ten days. There's also the Seoul Independent Film Festival which kicked off on Thursday. Netflix's monster horror drama “Sweet Home“ is back with its second season.. and another much-anticipated title “Gyeongseong Creature“ featuring Park Seo-joon is to be released in three weeks. For more on this, we invite Professor Jason Bechervaise from Kyungdong University who is also a film critic. Welcome, Professor Bechervaise. And also Professor Jeong Areum from Arizona State University. Good to see you, Professor Jeong. (JASON) Q1. Before we get to the details of Seoul Independent Film Festival or so-called SIFF I would like to first talk about Korean indie films' unique characteristics. What distinguishes South Korean indie films from those from other countries. and what would you say the latest trend is? (JEONG) Q2. Now to this year's festival for indie films, what role has the SIFF played and what does this year's slogan “Dear Life“ suggest? (JASON) Q3. The 49th SIFF kicked off already, running for nine days. Among a total of over one-thousand-300 films submitted what are the films that stand out to you? (JEONG) Q4. Now to the movies that hit the theaters “: The Day“ --a Korean historical film about a military coup in 1979 --is rapidly gaining popularity, surpassing the three million audience mark already. For those who might not be familiar with the coup what was it about? (JASON) Q5. It could have been quite a difficult task to make history fascinating. What aspects do you believe attracted moviegoers the most? (JEONG) Q6. As we know, the local film industry has been quite sluggish and there were not many movies that went over the break-even point. Do you expect this one to be one of those? (JEONG) Q7. Another major Korean film, “Noryang: Deadly Sea“, will be released soon. If I am correct, this is the last of the film trilogy on Korea’s legendary historical figure, Admiral Yi Sun-sin, right? Could you tell us more about the story first? (JASON) Q8. How did the previous two films of the trilogy do, and do you believe this last one will help revitalize the local film industry? (JASON) Q9. Meanwhile the apocalyptic horror series “Sweet Home“ returned for its second season after three years. The first season captivated the global audience with fantastical elements and creatures. What do you expect to see for this season? (JEONG) Q10. Another anticipated horror thriller is “Gyeongseong Creature“ starring Park Seo-joon and Han So-hee. It will be split into two parts, the first seven released on December 22nd, and the rest out in January. Do you have high hopes? (JASON) Q11. “Squid Game: The Challenge“ --the survival reality show was unveiled, with the same number of participants, similar game sets and soundtracks. I hear how people saw the reality show quite differed. How did you see it? Was it enough to build up the anticipation for season 2? Unfortunately, that's all the time we have for today's edition. Thank you Professor Bechervaise, and Professor Jeong for your time and insights. We appreciate it. #Movie #Culture #Screen #Drama #Streaming #OTT #12_12_TheDay #Sweet_Home2 #영화 #엔터테인먼트 #스트리밍 #서울의봄 #스위트홈2 #Arirang_News #아리랑뉴스 📣 Facebook : 📣 Twitter : 📣 Homepage : 2023-12-01, 18:30 (KST)
