In this talk, we will present two applications of the communications theory framework, one in machine learning and the other in blockchain technologies. Specifically, we will present how the problem of classification can be represented equivalently as a communications problem. This equivalent representation can enable the vast body of knowledge and intuition from communications and information theory to be used for tackling the open problems in machine learning. Next, we will present how the problem of inserting reliable off-chain data into the blockchain can also be represented as an equivalent communications problem.
