Gerês is known for its beautiful landscapes with lakes and rivers surrounded by mountains. I decided to take that trip to challenge myself and paint subjects that I hadn't painted before. I was a bit anxious about the trip because I didn't know what to expect from it, but eventually I decided that I would allow Gerês to surprise me. And so it did. It turned out that the weather was perfect for plein air painting - cloudy days changed to clear sky days, and the mountains provided me with so many different scenes to paint.
