In the summer of 2013 we went backpacking through Sri Lanka for one month. First we traveled from the hill country to the east coast to learn how to surf and snorkel with sharks at Arugam Bay and Pigeon Island. After that our journey continued to the ancient cities Anuradhapura and Mihintale. Mihintale is a mountain peak near Anuradhapura and worth a visit! It is believed by Sri Lankans to be the site of a meeting between the Buddhist monk Mahinda and King Devanampiyatissa which inaugurate
