They go everywhere, work, school, the toilet, and the little area between your car seat and the center console. The point is, we use and rely on them every day. Especially the camera. But, can a high-end, $1000 smartphone, the iPhone XS Max compete against this much cheaper $500 camera? Let’s find out with a little test. Amazon Affiliate Link: Sony A5100: First, I want to say, this is not for someone who is well into photography or video, the cameras are going to be put through what an average consumer can expect. That means, leaving everything on auto and see what the camera and phone push out. We’ll compare them doing a simple test. An outdoor shot at noon, an indoor shot during the day, an indoor shot late in the afternoon with a little light, and a shot at night. I’ll let you guys decide which one is better, because I’ll only label them A or B. Not the name of the device. I’ll tell what they are at the end of the video. At the timing of this, even I don’t know the results. Anyway, let’s get started. So, camera A was the Sony alpha a5100, the $500 camera with its kit lens. Camera B was the iphone XS ball. The results are SHOCKING. Well, not really, in areas with bright light, both cameras did great, and it’s hard to tell which, is which, but the a5100 does have a different focal length so all the shots do look a little more, professional out of the gate. But if we’re comparing level of the detail, the iphone xs max does just as well or maybe a little worse until we hit in the dark, where the iphone starts to fall apart altogether. You can’t even see the fur on this stuffed cyndaquil anymore. That’s disrespectful for the second-best fire starter in all of Pokémon. So, I thought this video would be a little less competitive. The phone seems to handle itself just fine in most situations and no one would be able to tell, but it is true that the phone can’t keep up in the dark, and that a true full-fledged camera can change its lens to get a crisper image, and gives you much more control over its settings that a phone just won’t let you do except through some paid apps. And even then, they can’t handle dark scenes just as well as dedicated camera. Yeah, holding a camera feels much nicer in the hand, and greater control gives you so many different options to do things. But for the average person, a camera is a specialized device, that would only take up more space to just lug around. For most people, their phone is good enough. It’s versatile, light, and always with you. But then you got idiots like me, who want to lug around a camera on every vacation, or special event, with multiple lens, and batteries, because I just like to pretend, I’m an actually good photographer and take some crisp nice shots. So, in the end, it’s all up to you. Both are good options and fits the needs of different types of people. In our daily lives, our smartphones are the best option because it’s quick and easy to use, but if you need the absolute best. Picture. ever. Invest in a quality camera. What do you guys think? Which one did you think was better? Is investing in a camera worth the extra cost to you? Leave that in the comment section below. I hope you guys found this video useful, if you enjoyed this video give it a thumbs up. And well don’t forget to subscribe. I’ll see you guys next time.
