14 years prior to the better-known lyrical recordings of “Manhattan Serenade” by the bands of Tommy Dorsey and Harry James , the familiar tune had been introduced on this 12-inch Victor single release as an instrumental track, presented by Shilkret in what was sometimes known as a ‘concert arrangement,’ featuring secondary melodies and tempo changes rather than a consistent dance rhythm.
