The Al Dhafra Festival is an essential occasion for the revival of heritage in people's daily life with its many activities, such as the traditional market, date packaging and photography competitions. Camels are of course the main focus of the Festival, and part of this is to preserve purebred Asayel and Majahim camels, introduce Bedouin culture, activate heritage tourism, and put the name of Al Dhafra in Al Gharbia (the Western Region) on the international tourism map as an oasis for camels and their fans. This is in addition to activating the economic movement in Al Gharbia, creating a market for selling and buying camels, highlighting original UAE handicrafts that reflect our Bedouin heritage, and encouraging poetic and photographic creativity in depicting camels.
