Role Models: An Interview with Actress and Gamer Ella Balinska

Since her feature film debut as Jane Kano in SONY Picture’s CHARLIE’S ANGELS in 2019, actress and producer Ella Balinska continues to grow in notability amidst her stardom. In her most recent endeavor, she starred as Jade in Netflix’s live-action series RESIDENT EVIL—a twist to the beloved video games and film franchise that premiered worldwide on July 14th, 2022. Balinska has quickly become a voice for her generation and continues to break down barriers across multiple genres. She has taken on the role of Frey Holland—the first leading woman of color in a performance capture video game—in Square Enix’s new epic FORSPOKEN for PlayStation 5. Having trained and graduated with honors at the Guildford School of Acting in London, Balinska recently established a scholarship at her Alma Mater for students from the global majority — supporting and deepening understanding of cultural identity and authenticity whilst training their craft.
