La Herradura, one of the best beaches in southern Herradura is a small coastal hamlet on the Granada coast, belonging to the municipality of Almuñécar. Because it is located in a natural port, it has been populated since prehistory by fishermen and merchants, as evidenced by the numerous archaeological remains found in the area, including Bronze Age weapons, or vestiges of the Visigothic and Islamic eras. Its raisins, grown in the rugged sierras of La Almijara and Alhama, achieved such fame that they were considered the best in the Islamic world. The Herradura beach gets this name for its particular horseshoe shape that is best distinguished in the distance, this is because it extends between the Punta de la Mona and the cliffs of Maro-Cerro Gordo. It is a very popular beach, more than 2km long and almost 50m wide, composed of medium-grained dark sand and pebbles. Support in the development of my channel: 💚 Donate in PayPal: @natalyinmalaga Ot
