Hi there! This weekend we visited Lake Titicaca and Copacabana. What a great day! Lake Titicaca is the highest navegable lake in the world. It is shared by Bolivia and Peru. By volume of water and surface area it is the largest lake in South America. The contrast of the deep, dark blue waters with the snow capped Andes is truly a blessing to see. It is believed that there were earlier civilizations living around the lake before the Incas arrived. This was pretty much confirmed in 2000 when a team of international archeologists found the ruins of an underwater temple believed to be up to 1500 years old. They also found a village, some roads, farming terraces and an 800 meter retaining wall. They think this was built by the Tiawanaku people.
