Object from the now closed exhibition Three sunken ships at The Vasa Museum. We do not know who he was but we call him Helge. His brain was intact although the centuries under water had shrunk and chemically turned it into soap. There is no cell structure left, no DNA, only the form. So we can learn almost nothing from it, but it is still eerily human. Are his last thoughts still locked inside? Presented by: Fred Hocker, The Vasa Museum Photo: Per Johansson, The Vasa Museum Photo/editing: Anders P Näsberg, The Vasa Museum Helge has also been reconstructed in the exhibition Face to face.
