Drawn to the stage at a young age, Andy started doing Sign Language with his mum after she had an invasive surgery and had to relearn how to use her body again. During this time, he became fascinated with the many ways with which we communicate, and decided that music and performance needed to be more inclusive of the deaf community. Incorporating signing into his performances he invented 'sign dance' and went on to be the founding member of the Auslan Choir.
