I will copy-paste what I wrote about Demolition and Jean-Marc on Letterboxd after a recent rewatch of the film. I think it summarizes the importance of the movie and Jean-Marc to me more or less perfectly - “Jean-Marc Vallee has made some amazing things for both television and the big screen. I really like Dallas Buyers Club and Wild and Big Little Lies (Season 1) and Sharp Objects are two of my favourite things on TV of all time. But the work of his that stayed with me the most is Demolition, this little film he did, which is also his last feature film.
