We continue to explore our huge wonderful world! Today we found ourselves in an ancient Russian city of Nizhny Novgorod and, despite the snowdrifts and frosty freshness, made an excellent city walk. Join us! Let's start our walking tour from Maxim Gorky Square (00:00:00). We will pass the Sverdlov Palace of Culture on Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street (00:31:30) and walk through the street sales of paintings, vinyl records, badges, and medals. Further on our way, an amazing building of the state bank, built in the neo-Russian style, has been adorning the center of Nizhny Novgorod for more than a century (00:37:44). During the October Revolution, practically the entire gold reserve of Russia was stored here. One of the city's highlights is the Nizhegorodsky Kremlin (00:56:02) and the beautiful embankment (1:26:22), from where an impressive panorama of the ice-covered Volga River opens up. With the nightfall, we return to Maxim Gorky Square, where we will complete our virtual journey. People wander from work or go for a walk, and the city begins to glow with hundreds of lights and shop windows. A beautiful city with a long history, it retains the memory of its heroes on its streets, but like any big city subtly changes to please the times. We would like to tell you a little more about the places that you saw during our trip. For example, Bolshaya Pokrovskaya Street is very long and strikes with a harmonious combination of historic homes, beautiful architecture and next to modern buildings made of glass, concrete and electric light. The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin is an ancient monument of defensive architecture. Its 500-year-old walls, which used to be besieged, now quietly keep their history. The Kremlin is open to the public, and on Christmas and New Year's holidays, the residence of Santa Claus is open on the Zachatskaya tower. Also, somewhere in the bowels of the Kremlin, according to legend, the library of Ivan the Terrible is hidden, which was delivered by his grandmother from ancient Byzantium. And the architectural complex of the Castle - Bank includes the bank itself, a residential building intended for employees, a storehouse and a chapel with bells.
