Homeowner Carole Henderson will take you through a tour of her serene Japanese garden, which features an array of weeping Japanese maples, bamboo, variegated Japanese grass and different forms of statuaries and garden art. Get a look at her carefully pruned junipers. The Japanese call this niwaki, which means trimming trees into cloud shapes. These artistic forms serve as the focal points of her themed garden. You can get an up-close-and-personal tour of these Zen-inducing spaces for free as part of the U.P. Historical Society’s Annual Garden Tour, which this year has gone virtual in 2020 thanks to the generous sponsorship of Atkins Chiropractic, Columbia Bank, Gray Lumber Company, JK Tax Service, Inc., McCabe’s Automotive Specialists, Morrison House/Sotheby’s International Realty, Portland Avenue Nursery, Seattle Seahawks, Sound Community Bank, Suburban Opticians and U.P. Refuse & Recycling.
