Building a racecar is no small task and Privateer racing is generally considered a hobby, however the time, energy and money that goes into race prepping a car goes far beyond the realm of normal hobbies. Add in the additional costs associated with the name Ferrari and the hobby all of a sudden becomes a very serious sport. This video is the first of a series of videos documenting the build and race prep of our Ferrari 308 race car, built to compete first in IMSA then later SCCA GT2. Mike Sheehan began the build of this Ferrari 308 race car in 1989, and with the ever evolving regulations of IMSA and SCCA this car has been through a continuous series of upgrades, including going from a 400 horse power 2 valve engine to the 450 horse power 4 valve engine that we are currently re-building. This video, as the first of the series, gives the history of this specific car and how it went from a burnt down fiberglass 308 into the 288 look alike race car you see today. We also go into a few fun facts about the SCCA regulations as well as the intricate details of the engine. We plan on documenting the entire process from now till race day to share with the world the amount of time and detail that goes into prepping a car for the race track. Follow us on social media!
