Experience and enjoy powerful and original dance theatre from the comfort of your own home, no ticket required! In the fifth instalment of our Theatre Thursdays’ series, we shine a light on Amaranthine, Company Chameleon's latest outdoor production. Amaranthine, pronounced am-a-ran-thine, explores a male and female relationship, and follows a couple in conflict as they desperately try to reconnect and find resolution. Intricate and emotionally charged, the pushes and pulls of disagreement and heated argument are felt, as is the appreciation of space, understanding and eventually, acceptance. Combining a rich mix of dance styles, the movement is both powerful and risk taking, drawing from an amalgamation of dance techniques including contemporary dance, b-boying, capoeira and partner work. Co-founders, Anthony Missen and Kevin Edward Turner, met at Trafford Youth Dance Theatre in the 1990s and trained professionally at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance. After graduating and working extensively around the world, they returned home in 2007 with the aim of setting up their own dance company – and Company Chameleon was born. Today, Company Chameleon tours internationally, staging over 50 indoor and outdoor performances every year. Learning and participation is an integral part of Company Chameleon’s work. The Company leads classes, workshops, residencies and projects in tandem with the national and international touring programme. As a result, Company Chameleon has introduced thousands of people from countries all over the world, to a different side of dance and movement. In 2019, Company Chameleon welcomed Dame Darcey Bussell on board as the Company’s first-ever Patron.
