As state and federal officials continue to survey the widespread destruction caused by Hurricane Helene, our nation's emergency funds are running low. FEMA officials announced while the agency has enough money to deal with the immediate response to Helene, it could run out of funds before hurricane season ends on November 30th. This is definitely not the news you want to hear, especially if you're living in the southeast part of our country. And we are just at the beginning of hurricane season. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), says it has enough money to handle the latest disaster, but the 20 billion dollars it has in reserve could be depleted soon.
