Welcome to the Middle Earth Today Gandalf is one of the Maia spirits sent to Middle-earth during the Third Age of the Sun to aid its inhabitants in the fight against the “Dark Lord“ Sauron. There he assumed the appearance of a long-bearded old man, dressed in a great gray cloak, pointed hat, and a large cane. Gandalf organized and accompanied the adventurous expedition of Thorin “Oakshield“ and the other dwarves, along with Bilbo Baggins, to Erebor to recover the treasures taken by the dragon Smaug. After discovering that Bilbo's ring is the One Ring, he asks his friend to give it to his nephew Frodo, who leaves with Sam on the way to Rivendell to put the Ring to safety. As part of the Company of the Ring, he embarks on a journey to Mordor. In Moria he faces a Balrog, both falling into the abyss, the magician's body remains lifeless on the top of the mountain and his spirit travels beyond the world, from where he is sent back to Middle-earth to continue his fight again
