Origin story For a long time, they have been hunting foxes, raccoons, and badgers. Rodents were exterminated at home. Priest John Jack Russell, loved dogs and hunting. In 1873 he founded a club and began to deduce the breed standard. At first, they tried to breed Russells with Bull and Terriers, because they wanted to get a good fighter for dog fights. This crossing gave the relief musculature and a strong build. Jack Russell's breed was brought to Russia in 1890. They were considered defective fox terriers, and therefore were not immediately accepted by dog lovers.
