Crews are making progress in extinguishing a Calaveras County wildfire that injured one firefighter and prompted evacuations, officials said Wednesday. The Aero Fire, which started around 1:40 p.m. on June 17 near Aero and Hunt roads in the Copperopolis area, sent out a large plume of smoke into the sky and grew at what Cal Fire described to be a “dangerous rate of spread“ amid windy conditions.
