On Monday, Spain’s acting Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, visited areas in Tenerife that have been devastated by six days of fires. Sanchez said the coming hours would be crucial in stabilizing the wildfires, weather permitting. Spanish military emergency unit firefighters battled a blaze overnight and in the early hours of Monday morning on the island of Tenerife. So far 12,800 hectares of woodland within the national park surrounding the Teide volcano, Spain’s highest peak, has been ravaged from the fire that started last Tuesday night.
