A great artist can turn the mundane into a masterpiece. They can turn fruit—yes, a bowl of fruit—into a piece of art. A great writer can do the same thing with stories. They can take a story about learning French or flying on an airplane, and turn it into a hilarious tale that dazzles readers. Your mission is to tell the story of yesterday. Yes, you must write about something that happened to you yesterday in a compelling and engaging way. As a storyteller, you need to transform a typical day into something entertaining, fun, reflective, inspirational--or, however you can creatively tell your story. Here is an example of an engaging story: It is titled lunch I couldn’t wait any longer. The most glorious time of the day was still thirty minutes away, and all I could think about was my grandma’s homemade shrimp tacos with mango salsa. Yum. In my head I kept thinking, “How can I escape science class?” Should I try and bribe the teacher? Should I run out the class door? That’s when I saw it. There—four seats away— was Shirley eating A churro. If grandma's shrimp tacos were the world's best food, churros were a close second. “Shirley, I said. “You got an extra churro for me.” Shirley nodded her head up and down. “Thank goodness,” I thought. Not only was I going to get a churro, but after my glorious churro, I was going to have my grandma’s glorious fish tacos. What a day! Shirley reached her hand in a bag--and slowly pulled out nothing. “Psyche.” she said I was crushed. Lunch was now 29 minutes away. Now it is your turn to write about something that happened yesterday. 🔔 SUBSCRIBE for more for online teaching resources: 🎥 WANT TO CREATE VIDEOS LIKE THESE?
