“Everyone I disagree with is a bad person who has done bad things“ is the easiest and most simple way to justify canceling someone over their opinions, and you can pretend that you’re canceling them for something else they did and that their politics have nothing to do with it. What’s happening to Russell Brand right now is no different than the attempted takedowns of everyone else who’s ever gotten canceled for holding the wrong political opinions. You could argue that some people who get “canceled“ certainly deserve to be — but unless they’re politically significant and hold views hostile to the establishment, they are not written about, talked about, or given any sort of coverage whatsoever in the media. How many men, ones who were actually guilty of wrongdoing during the MeToo era, were canceled by the media? Where was all the breathless, cover-to-cover headlines of Jeffrey Epstein, or more recently, Huw Edwards? Источник: Culture War Room
